From Cellar to Kitchen: Hands-On Learning in Hospitality

Our 6th form pupils recently had the fantastic opportunity to visit The Archer Pub, run by Landmarks College, for their Hospitality Open Event. This visit provided invaluable hands-on experience in both front and back-of-house roles, allowing pupils to develop key industry skills in a real working environment.

During their time at The Archer, pupils learned how to pour the perfect pint, practiced stock-taking in the cellar, and even tackled the technical task of changing pumps on barrels. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, they followed professional processes to bake cookies, gaining insight into food preparation and kitchen efficiency.

This experience not only helped pupils understand the fast-paced nature of the hospitality industry but also allowed them to put their teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving skills into practice. From interacting with customers to ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes, they gained a deeper appreciation of what it takes to run a successful hospitality business.

Opportunities like this help prepare our pupils for the future, equipping them with practical skills and confidence as they explore potential careers in hospitality. A huge thank you to Landmarks College and The Archer Pub for hosting such a valuable and inspiring event!
