Principal's Message to parents - 1 November 2021
Welcome back to the second part of the Autumn Term.
I thought it would be helpful to share some key dates and things that are coming up since things will continue to be a little different for the rest of this year.
Some key dates:
Friday 5th November- weather permitting we will be having a winter sports day (Mr Rose will be sharing details and timings, early this week). As we will be outside, it will be possible for parents to attend and there will be a stall or two run by the Friends of Dawn House.
There will be lunch available – if you would like to order a lunch for yourselves you can pre book and pay for a meal on Parent mail - cost £3. We will not be able to take orders on the day, as we need to prepare in advance. If you book a meal, you can collect a meal token from the Reception/School Business Office. Dinner menu attached.
Monday 8th November – Roof work will start
Thursday 11th November - school photos.
Thursday 18 November – Bags for School, collection day
Saturday 20th November - Parents day.
Wednesday 24th November - No Pens Day Wednesday.
Wednesday 15th December - Christmas dinner day.
Friday 17th December - last day of term.
During next term we will continue to develop our strategy for playtimes and lunchtimes as we continue to support children in their return to school. Lunchtime clubs will be available, and you will be kept up to date with your own child's choices. We will be reminding all children about the expectations of their behaviour and for now , at least, there will be no football during breaktimes. Thank you for your support in this area, it always really helps when we work together.
This term also sees the start of our new Mental Health Practitioner in school. Sharon will be working 3 days a week as part of the wellbeing team.
During the holidays we have also appointed Laura Cohen, who will start in January as our Food & Nutrition Teacher and will be tutor to KS3PI.
Hopefully during this week your children will get to use the re-vamped school hall! We will include some photos of it in use over the next week or two.
As you know, work will be starting on the roof during November. There will be more information to follow about this and the contractors also plan to spend some time explaining things about this process to the children in school.
Forest Schools continues this half term. It may be wise to consider sending in waterproofs and wellies in on your childs timetabled day, so that this can continue whatever the weather. We do plan to invest in some for school as spares but may not have these straight away.
We ask you to continue will all the Covid measures we have had in place last half term. Twice weekly routine lateral flow tests, with additional ones if anyone in the family is unwell. Please use the Covid reporting email if there is information to share. This ensures that we get the information as quickly as possible. Masks will continue to be worn as we move around the buildings and the usual hand washing hygiene will not only protect us from Covid, but other seasonal bugs too.
Off we go!
Best wishes, Jenny
