Principal's Message to Parents 31/12/2021
Happy New Year and information
Happy New Year to you all!
We look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Tuesday 4th January. Staff will have carried out lateral flow tests prior to their return and have all been keeping me up to date with any covid related health issues. At this point, it seems that we will have the majority of staff in school, which is a good position to be in, I'm sure you will agree.
If you have anything covid related to report to us, please use the email address which we will be responding to and advising, from today.
Our secondary aged children for whom we have received consent will have a lateral flow test when they arrive in school. These will be done in the sports hall by familiar staff. As per Government guidelines, and as we have continued to do in school throughout, masks will be worn by all staff, secondary pupils and any visitors when they are moving around inside the building or if they are unable to socially distance. All those who are exempt from wearing masks are known to us. If anything has changed in this respect, please let us know.
Please do ensure that where possible your child has a jumper in school as we will need to have windows open at times for increased ventilation.
One change that your child might benefit from knowing is that we have altered the timetable slightly to allow for a longer pastoral, tutor time in the afternoon. Lessons will now be 40 minutes long instead of 45. We hope that this will support class groups and allow more time at the end of the day for reflection time and for children to have increased time with their core teams (tutor, therapist and TAs).
As we begin 2022, please spend some time thinking about some of the things that went well last year, that maybe you and your children would like to do more of; is there anything that we haven't done that you'd like to see happen? Do let us know as this is a time for looking ahead. During January you will receive a questionnaire. Please complete this as it will help us shape the year ahead.
There is also some indication that we might see snow this week. Please keep us up to date about your local weather conditions and we will keep in contact with you through Parentmail and our school website.
Once again, I wish you all a healthy and Happy New Year and we look forward to the term ahead,
