Our vision: Working towards successful futures
Our week began with Mr Ellis taking us back in time from a technology perspective and ended with further reminiscence for some of us ( speaking probably to the older readers out there) of our 70s/80s neon disco days!
Leavers Party
It’s been an emotional week in Sixth form as we have been celebrating the achievements of our 2025 leavers. The neon themed leavers party on Thursday was a night to remember with lots of fun, tears, laughter and dancing. The leavers have been reflecting on their time at Dawn house and produced some thought provoking speeches, films and memories about their time at Dawn House. Many proud moments for staff and parents to share in this celebration and watch the leavers ‘party like it’s 2025’. We wish them all the best for the future and know that they will keep in touch.

School Wellbeing Survey for Parents/Carers
We would like to gather your views about wellbeing at Dawn House School. Please help us to find out what we are doing well and any areas for improvements as we head towards the end of this academic year. It should only take a few minutes. We will also be around on Sports Day on 11th July to assist you if you are unable to do it before.

Dawn House Summer Club – August 2025
We’re excited to share details of this year’s Dawn House Summer Club, offering two themed weeks packed with fun and engaging activities for our pupils.
This summer, Dawn House will be running two themed Summer Club sessions for pupils to enjoy a mix of fun, creativity, and physical activity.
During the week commencing 4th August, pupils will enjoy a seaside-themed two-day experience (Monday and Tuesday), starting with cooking healthy fish and chips in the morning, followed by seaside-style swimming and pool games in the afternoon. On the second day, pupils will take part in arts and crafts, including sand play and making sand bottles, and finish off with some healthy ice cream making.
Then, during the week commencing 25th August, we’ll run a summer sports-themed club on Tuesday and Wednesday, featuring swimming, field sports, kite flying (weather permitting), and a variety of other sports and games to keep everyone active and engaged. Weather allowing, we hope to enjoy a BBQ, or alternatively cook BBQ-style food indoors.
If your child is interested in attending either or both weeks, please contact me to register your interest.
Jane, our CEO at Speech and Language UK, appeared on Woman’s Hour Woman’s Hour – SEND, Kate Burton, Yehudis Fletcher – BBC Sounds yesterday to talk about the SEND system and explain that EHCPs aren’t the problem. Listen from 2:15 for the whole story about SEND and from 8:44 to hear our contribution. And just a reminder to add your name to tell the Prime Minister that EHCPs can’t disappear here. Goodness me, thank goodness we’re ‘winding down towards the end of term’…or not! Do have a look at the DHS website if youd like to hear more about the Mikeys Wish Foundation Fun Day or the outdoor learning trip out this week…just too much to share!
Looking forward to seeing you all on 11th June for Sports day.

If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
