Blue Lights and Bright Futures: Primary Pupils Meet Real-Life Heroes

Last week, primary pupils enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon as part of their life skills curriculum, with a special visit from the emergency services. The event was designed to help pupils understand the crucial roles of emergency responders and learn practical safety tips that could one day save a life.

The highlight of the afternoon was the arrival of the police and St John Ambulance, who brought along their vehicles and equipment to give pupils a hands-on experience. Children had the chance to explore the inside of a police car, try on uniforms, and ask questions about the officers’ jobs. St John Ambulance volunteers demonstrated basic first aid techniques and showed pupils how to safely call for help in an emergency.

Adding to the afternoon’s importance, Mr Ward delivered an engaging session on water safety, helping pupils understand how to stay safe near rivers, lakes, and swimming pools – particularly relevant as summer holidays approach.

This special event was a powerful reminder of how life skills go beyond the classroom, helping children to feel more confident, informed, and prepared for real-world situations. A big thank you goes to all the visitors who made the afternoon so memorable!
