Happy Friday!
The week started with assembly activities around art and creativity and is finishing with another kind of creativity through performance in our end of year show. Mr Metcalfe has put together one of the best yet! His final ‘performance’ included dancers, singers, the Makaton choir and was so very celebratory. A huge well done to all performers and all staff supporting them and a big thank you to the crowds of parents who came to clap along! Always a good reminder to us all of just how amazing our school community is.
Another pat on the back for our P1 &2 trip last week when a member of the public went over to them while they were having their lunch, and asked staff to pass on how lovely and polite all the children were with their manners, saying please and thank you and excuse me while playing in the soft play. How lovely to hear.
Our footballers enjoyed an inter school football tournament this week with teams from Sutherland House, Beech Academy and Brackenhill joining in. As described on our website, this is just the start for the team….

And…what an amazing letter from King Charles!

And a reminder from last week’s assembly…Summer is the perfect time to have fun in the sun — whether you’re playing on the beach, swimming in the sea, paddling in a pool, enjoying a picnic in the park, or just hanging out with friends and family outdoors. But while you’re enjoying yourself, it’s really important to stay safe too.
Always put on plenty of sun cream and remember to top it up regularly, especially after swimming. Try to spend time in the shade when the sun is at its strongest, wear a hat and sunglasses, and cover up with loose clothing to protect your skin.
When you’re swimming, always choose recognised places with lifeguards, like beaches with red and yellow flags, and never swim alone. Read safety signs, wear longer swimwear during the hottest parts of the day and drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
Around water, be sensible — know your limits and never take risks.
It is also important to stay safe around electricity. Never fly kites or drones near overhead wires and never climb pylons, electrical poles or trees near them. Never try to go into an electrical substation, even if you lose a ball or toy in there. Ask an adult for help in contacting the company responsible.
By following these simple tips, everyone can enjoy the sunshine safely this summer.
At the beginning of the new school year I will send some reminders and updates on our processes in school, some of which will change due to increased pupil and staff numbers. One for this side of the holiday though is a polite reminder to stick to our on-site speed limit of 10 mph and please not to get impatient with other drivers who are following the rules. Thank you!
Jenny
If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
