Looking back…

Summer Holiday Club

This summer, our pupils had a fantastic time taking part in our school holiday clubs. They loved getting creative in the kitchen, cooking up a healthier version of fish and chips one day and making delicious cheesecake on another. Alongside this, pupils enjoyed swimming, using ICT, playing football on the field, and having fun games of dodgeball in the hall. The atmosphere throughout was relaxed and enjoyable, with plenty of laughter, teamwork, and smiles. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and happy, making the most of their time in school over the summer.

Thank you to the staff who made this happen!

Looking forwards…

This week…

Children were all reminded of the ‘Dawn House Way’ for pupils and for adults in school. This was drawn up by the Pupil Leadership Group and is a great reminder about expectations for how to behave in school. Do ask your children what they can remember about it and what we are really trying hard to do this year- Be Kind, Be brave.

Residential news

‘What a fun filled week we’ve had! We kicked things off with some creepy crawly creativity in Foodie Friends, making spider sandwiches that were almost too cute to eat! Then it was out to the field for golf and football, while some students soaked up the sunshine with a good book in the People’s Hut.

Tuesday was action packed with WASP football, chess, tennis with Mr. Norman and a peek into Forest School adventures.

On Wednesday, our Eco Club got their green thumbs ready, planning out a garden makeover and look at a trip to B&Q to pick out bulbs. Meanwhile, Music Club enjoyed watching their production video and experimenting with shiny new instruments. Later, we stretched our legs on a sunny walk up Helmsley Road to hand-deliver invitations for our upcoming Family Fun Day.

Thursday brought even more excitement with swimming, scooters, tennis, and football capped off with a high energy dodgeball game against the staff (who may or may not still be recovering!)’

Thank you for this from Emma Hook, our new (returning!) Residential Activity Coordinator- the spider sandwiches were surprisingly delicious!

Keeping safe….

Online gaming

At school, children are reminded that they must not share online gaming details (such as usernames, passwords, or codes). This is an important part of keeping all pupils safe.

Online gaming is an activity for home time only. It is not part of school learning, and therefore it is not the responsibility of school.

We kindly remind parents and carers that any online gaming should be supervised and monitored at home to ensure children are kept safe online.

Thank you for supporting us in helping children stay safe.

Nails

Children (and staff) are reminded about nails being kept appropriately short and not pointed. This keeps us safe during sports activities and hygienic when taking part in cooking activities. This is part of our dress code.

Enjoy your weekends,

Jenny

If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
