York Trip Brings History to Life for Students
Exploring the Past, Creating Memories
Students enjoyed an exciting and memorable trip to York yesterday, packed with history, exploration and fun. From the moment we arrived, the day was full of opportunities to learn and experience the city’s rich past firsthand.
We began by walking from the car park to the castle, where some students had the chance to go inside and climb to the top – an unexpected highlight, especially as entry was kindly offered free of charge.
The group then made their way along the famous Shambles, taking time to explore the unique shops and soak up the atmosphere of one of York’s most historic streets. A well-earned lunch at McDonald’s gave everyone a chance to relax and refuel before the afternoon’s activities.
The day concluded with a visit to the York Dungeons, where students were immersed in the dramatic and sometimes gruesome history of the city. Through interactive storytelling, they learned about the Anglo-Saxons, the witch trials, Guy Fawkes, and the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin – complete with all the sights, sounds and even smells of the past!
A big thank you to everyone who made the trip possible. It was a fantastic day that brought history to life and created lasting memories for all involved.
