Pupil Leadership Group

At Dawn House School, pupil voice is essential part of our curriculum. Each half term, formal Pupil Leadership Group (PLG) meetings are held with a group of pupils from across the school. Each tutor group has a representative at the PLG. PLG representatives are elected by their peers at the beginning of the academic year to represent the pupil voice, views and opinions.

We believe, pupils should have their say in decisions, which affect their lives. PLG provides a meaningful way for pupils to voice their opinions and have their views taken in to account when decisions are being made. Not only does this help to develop and improve our school but also allows pupils to develop lifelong skills such as decision making, budgeting and team work.

Each PLG representative is responsible for sharing their tutor groups views and opinions on a given agenda. They are the important link between the staff and pupils. Members lead a tutor group discussion before and after the meeting with support from their tutor. These discussions ensure pupils have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas and take part in discussions that involve all their peers in reaching a democratic solution.
