The Dawn House Way: A New Chapter in Respect and Responsibility

The Dawn House Way: A New Chapter in Respect and Responsibility

We are delighted to officially launch The Dawn House Way Behaviour Charter – a shared set of values and expectations created by and for our school community. Developed over recent weeks by our Pupil Leadership Group (PLG) alongside Mrs. Burke, this charter is more than just a set of rules – it’s a powerful commitment to how we live, learn and treat one another every day at Dawn House.

This inclusive and meaningful charter reflects the voices of both pupils and adults, capturing what it truly means to be part of our unique school. It emphasises respect, responsibility, and restorative approaches to relationships, all while supporting a positive and safe learning environment.

Celebrating a Community Effort

The Pupil Leadership Group has played a vital role in shaping this charter and ensuring it reaches every corner of our school. Here’s what the PLG would like to see happen next:

📄 A3 copies displayed in every classroom – shared by class reps next week.

🎥 A Makaton film version to support accessibility and inclusion.

🖼️ Larger display posters installed in key shared areas: reception, dining room, and the taxi corridor.

🌦️ A weatherproof sign installed outdoors, featuring restorative symbols on the reverse – a daily reminder of our shared values.

🎤 Regular recognition – the charter will be highlighted in assembly every half term and read in tutor groups weekly.

We look forward to seeing The Dawn House Way come to life across school. Whether you’re a pupil, a member of staff, or a visitor, we invite you to join us in living these values every day.
