An Action-Packed KS4 Residential in the Peaks

Teamwork, Challenge, and Egg-cellent Fun!

An Action-Packed KS4 Residential in the Peaks

This week, our KS4 students embarked on an unforgettable residential trip filled with adventure, teamwork, and new experiences in the heart of the Peak District.

Day 1:
We arrived at the youth hostel and settled into our accommodation before heading straight into our first activities. The afternoon was spent learning essential outdoor skills, including fire lighting and shelter building, which gave us a taste of bushcraft and teamwork. After dinner, we took part in a creative and fun activity—designing and building egg rockets. This set the stage for the exciting competition to come.

Day 2:
On the second day, we travelled into the High Peaks for a day of adventure and challenge. Guided by instructors from Acclimatize, we took part in scrambling—or ‘weaselling’—which involved climbing through, over, and under natural rock formations. The highlight of the day was abseiling down a cliff face, pushing many of us out of our comfort zones and building confidence. After returning to the hostel for dinner, we launched our egg rockets in a lively competition to see whose egg survived the journey intact.

Day 3:
Our final day began with packing up our rooms and making sure the hostel was left tidy. We then took part in a series of engaging activities, including archery, orienteering, and team-building games. These sessions encouraged cooperation, focus, and problem-solving, rounding off the trip with a strong sense of achievement and group spirit.
