Principal’s message to families – 5 June 2026

Let’s celebrate and show a father, grandad, uncle, brother, friend that you care and appreciate them being there for you

At Dawn House we once again bring our pop up stall out to support the young people to buy a small token for a family member or friend on Father’s Day.

We appreciate the diversity of families, hence our less traditional approach to ‘Father’s Day’.

Our Market Stalls offer an opportunity for the young people at Dawn House to practice skills in budgeting, making choices and turn taking in a safe and supportive environment.

The gifts on sale will range in price from £1 up to £5 with the stall being open from 9am to 11:50am on Friday 19th June.

If your child would like to make use of the opportunity, please send them in with money and if possible a list of people they wish to buy for. Their core teams will support them with this.

Next term, we will be focusing on developing and enhancing play opportunities across the school, particularly during unstructured times like break and lunchtime. As part of this, staff and children will be working together to explore ways to make playtimes more engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable for all pupils. We have our Amazon Wish List with resources and equipment that would support this project. If you would like to contribute, we would be extremely grateful for any donations. We look forward to sharing updates with you as the project develops.

Following the recent increase in tragic water-related incidents and drowning deaths across the UK, we are encouraging schools to help raise awareness of water safety among pupils, parents, and the wider school community. Water safety education can play a vital role in preventing future tragedies and ensuring young people understand the risks associated with rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals, beaches, and other open water environments.

As we move into the warmer months, many children and young people will spend more time around water. Simple safety messages can make a significant difference in helping them recognise hazards, make safer choices, and know what to do in an emergency.

Children and their core teams will be thinking of a variety of stalls, games and fun that they will be responsible for on the day. There will also be some external stalls, the famous coffee van and refreshments. Please do come and support us.

If you would like to order a lunch for yourself to enjoy during the Summer Fair, please select either fish and chips or veggie fingers and chips via ParentPay. The cost of each meal is £8. All orders must be placed in advance, so please ensure payment is completed by Friday 3rd July 2026.

All monies raised from the fair will be going towards our minibus fund! Lets see how much closer we can get!

Raffle tickets will be sent home with your child over the next few weeks. Please return payment (cash) to the school office. Any unsold tickets should also be returned to the office.

Raffle Donations – please send any donations that may be used as prizes for the raffle to the school office. If you have any connections to local pubs, restaurants, shops etc who may donate a voucher, please do ask them! We can provide a request letter, should they need one.

We will be sending information about other donations you could make over the next week or so.

If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
