Principal’s message to families – 26 June 2026
Goodbye and GOOD LUCK to our 2026 Dawn House Leavers!
Our 6th form hosted a fabulous leavers event ‘cowboy style’ last night. The food, the mocktails, the décor, the outfits, the line dancing were all wonderful and it was a really celebratory event. Several students made speeches about their Dawn House Days and staff spoke about their memories and the progress that young people have made. Several past staff members joined us for the evening which the young people really enjoyed.
The heat and the balloons though….not a great combination, although it did sound like the real Wild West at times!!!!
Thank you to the organisers and caterers for making this a truly memorable night.
Summer Fair
At this year’s Dawn House Summer Fair, we are aiming to raise a record amount towards a new minibus for our children and young people, and we would be incredibly grateful for any donations. We are looking for bottles of all kinds for our popular bottle stalls, including adult drinks, children’s drinks, water, along with random bottles such as vinegar, tomato sauce and other household bottles! We would also warmly welcome tombola prizes, raffle prizes, and gifts, vouchers or experiences for our silent auction. Every donation, big or small, will help us maximise our fundraising efforts and make this year’s Summer Fair our most successful yet. Thank you for your generosity and support in helping us reach our goal.

Parent/Carer volunteers for the Fair
We are looking for parent and carer volunteers to help make our Dawn House Summer Fair on Friday 17th July a fantastic event for our children, young people and families. Whether you can spare an hour or a few hours, we would be grateful for support with setting up, running stalls, helping with activities, serving refreshments, or tidying away at the end of the day. Volunteering is a wonderful way to be part of our school community and help create a fun and memorable afternoon for everyone. If you are able to help, please contact the school office or complete the volunteer form. Thank you in advance for your support – we couldn’t do it without you! ☀️🎪🌻

This week the Bridge class …
went to Greggs on the local bus yesterday! They caught the bus, asked for a ticket and pressed the bell for our stop, they were a credit to the school and were superb to take out. They enjoyed a refreshing drink and snack in Greggs. As we had a bit of time before our next bus back (after reading the timetables) we popped over to McDonalds for an ice cream and enjoyed their far superior air conditioning!
Today to cool down we have been engaging in water play on a paddling pool on our garden!
Our students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Cadbury World in Birmingham. During the visit, they learned about the history of chocolate, from the origins of cocoa beans to the production of the chocolate we enjoy today.
Pupils explored a range of interactive exhibits and watched demonstrations showing how chocolate is made. A particular highlight was seeing the chocolate-making process in action and, of course, tasting some delicious Cadbury treats.
The trip supported learning in subjects such as history, geography, and design technology, making it both engaging and informative. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that students (and staff!) thoroughly enjoyed.
Assembly topic this week
Our assembly was all about World Refugee Day. Ask your children what they can remember about it.

If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
