Dawn House School Summer Reading Challenge!

We've received a few photo entries - keep them coming...

August 10, 2026

Over the summer holidays, we would love our pupils (and staff) to enjoy reading in as many different places and ways as possible. Whether it’s a favourite story at home, a magazine in the garden, a comic at the park, an audiobook on a journey, or a book borrowed from the library, every reading experience counts!

We would be delighted if you could send us photos of your child taking part in the challenge throughout the summer. These can be shared by email and may be used (with permission) to celebrate our pupils’ achievements when we return to school. Please remember in order to be posted on the website, no faces visible please, which I know is tricky!)

📸 Send us photos of your child reading wherever their summer adventures take them!

To make things even more exciting, everyone who takes part and sends in a photo will be entered into a prize draw in September, with a special prize for one lucky winner.

Reading helps build imagination, communication, confidence, and independence, so we hope lots of our pupils will join in.

We can’t wait to see your reading adventures and celebrate them together when we return to school in September.

To get you started, here is a photo of Mrs McConnell , with Mrs Burke and Mrs Lindley- enjoying a cool dip in Colwick West Lake with our books.

(Please note regarding safe swimming – this area is a specially designated swimming area and part of a club-the water quality is monitored and there are lifeguards present.) Only swim where it is safe to do so, and don’t swim alone.
