Principal’s message to families – 4th July 2025
Engage Develop Aspire Communicate
Our vision: Working towards successful futures
Well, who knew what this week would bring as we sat in assembly on Monday morning hearing all about the emergency service visit to school and the importance of keeping ourselves safe; then waved the KS4 group off to Castleton to enjoy 3 days of activity at the YHA?!

Our Ofsted visitors arrived bright and early on Tuesday morning and finally left us around 6pm on Wednesday. They were so very complimentary about all aspects of school, but particularly our children. The focus was very much about hearing children’s voices, gathering their thoughts about school and seeing the progress they make through their engagement and love of learning. The inspection really reflected our own, very child centred, relational approach and so when we are able to share the outcome, I am sure that you will agree that through this and many really positive conversations with staff and leaders, the inspectors really gained a real understanding of Dawn House School.
We have appreciated your patience and support this week, thank you.
As time seems to have stopped this week, the only other thing I will share this week is information about next Fridays sports day and summer fair.
Sports Day starts from 9.20 so you are welcome to arrive from 9am. The day will finish at 2pm – do sign your children out at the office if you take them any earlier.
Please continue to send in your bottles, potential raffle prizes and tombola items. If you or anyone you know wanted to run a stall on the day, please let us know. You can do this for a £15 charge.
Don’t forget that you can buy raffle tickets in advance and to keep supporting your children to keep collecting their sponsors for the penalty shootout. Some of them will have been practising this week with players from Mansfield Town!
Parents can order and pay for lunch through parent pay, in advance and preferably before Tuesday next week.
DON’T FORGET….. INSET DAY – Monday 7 July 2025
Have a great weekend- we all plan to RELAX!
Jenny
If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
