Our vision: Working towards successful futures
Apologies for the delayed arrival of last weeks newsletter!
Its hard to believe that March is just around the corner (in fact, due to the delay, its here already!)! At long last Spring is in sight.
This week, while your children enjoyed an extra days holiday, staff were participating in a largely Senior Leader led INSET day focussing on their individual needs. We had a Makaton refresher which is something for you as parents to look out for as we’d love to invite you to come along to a session or two at some point? (see below) We also talked about our restorative approach to behaviour; the importance of positive relationships, particularly for children who have experienced trauma; the speech and language challenges our children face and the impact on their access to learning. Staff also had some fun taking part in a house challenge, won by our newest member of staff, Mr Kilcourse, on his first day!!
Since then staff groups have already started to put what they learned into practise. See what our OT team have done…

Parent workshops / support sessions
Learning is also an important aspect for you as families. We would like to gather your views about any future parent workshops / support sessions. To enable us to make this useful and tailored to what you need, please can you fill in these 5 questions in the link below. It should take less than a minute to complete. Many thanks in advance for taking the time to complete this.

Singing Hands came to join us on Friday- we look forward to sharing photos and feedback from the day next week. Children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day and there were singing hands and smiling faces wherever we looked!
World Book Day – Thursday 5 March 2026
We’re looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. This year’s theme is Myths and Legends. To mark the occasion, we’ll be hosting a book stall where students can buy books priced between 10p and 50p, so they may wish to bring a small amount of change.
Throughout the morning, students will take part in a variety of fun activities linked to the theme, and they are encouraged to bring a favourite story to share with their classmates. We will also be holding a competition for the most creative myth- or legend-inspired costume. Please note that masks are not allowed and costumes must be school appropriate.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting a love of reading and imagination.
That’s all for this week. We will have tales of myths and legends and of our Robin Hoods Bay 6th form trip next week. As always there’s lots going on!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Jenny
If your child leaves home in the morning a little unsettled and you want to quickly tell us, so we know to expect a tricky start to the day, a quick email (that we can follow up later) to the tutor and/or core team with ‘Handle with Care’ in the email title will ensure that we are aware.
