Speech and Language UK Services Ltd.  Assessment Service at the Bill Harrison Suite offers multi-disciplinary assessments for children and young people aged 5 – 19 with a range of speech, language and communication needs. The assessment centre is based at Dawn House School in Nottinghamshire but is open to families and local authorities from across the UK.  

The centre provides detailed assessments from a team of professionals (speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and specialist teachers) to help you to make an informed decision about the type of support and school your child needs. The assessments can be commissioned by your local authority or privately funded. We would, however, recommend you discuss this with your local authority as soon as possible so they are aware of any planned changes.  

All prospective pupils for Dawn House School, who must have an Education and Health Care Plan, are assessed through this service prior to entry to determine whether their needs can be met by the school.  

The assessment is usually completed over a day where a range of formal/informal assessments and observations takes place. The children are usually seen in a peer matched classroom environment to ensure they also feel comfortable at our school.
