Medication in School

Staff at Dawn House School are trained in a wide range of medical interventions to support our students to access their education.

Dawn House School has a full time Nursing Auxiliary here to support children with additional medical needs and liaise with parents and medical professionals to ensure students are receiving the very best care whilst at school. Each student who comes to Dawn House will have a care plan put in place, this is agreed with parents and updated yearly or as things change. This plan will identify what support a student may need whilst at school.

If your child receives a place at Dawn House School and has a medical condition we will always work together with parents and their healthcare team to ensure we have the correct training and support in place for your child.

Staff are trained in the following:

  • Medication handling and administration
  • Allergy management (including administering auto injector pen)
  • Epilepsy Awareness (including Buccal Midazolam)
  • Staff are able to support with personal care where needed
