The safety of the pupils and the families we work with are a priority to us all at Dawn House School.
Philip Chandler is the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Dawn House School. The school also has two Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) - Jenny McConnell and Kathy Horton. Any concerns in school are reported to them.
All Staff recognise their responsibility in taking action where a child is suffering significant harm or is likely to do so. The school also has responsibility to take action to promote the welfare of the child in need of additional support even if they are not suffering harm or at immediate risk.
Due to the vulnerable nature of our children and their complex needs, it is not uncommon for a member of the safeguarding team to follow up a potential concern with parents – often to simply clarify what a child may have communicated to someone. This is their legal responsibility and we appreciate your understanding that your child’s wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us.
What to do if you have a safeguarding concern:
If you have any concerns at all, please contact a DDSL or DSL as soon as possible on 01623 795361.
Should your concern be in respect to a member of school staff then contact the Principal Jenny McConnell immediately on 01623 795361.
However, if you have a concern about the Principal then please contact Neil Maslan, the Director of Education at Speech and Language UK - firstname.lastname@example.org.
